PROVERBS 4:26
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

The first part of this verse tells us to weigh what we do on a scale and see if it measures up to what the word of GOD says. Sometimes we should slow down and look at the way we live and what we are doing and see if it lines up with the Bible like it says in these verses:

Hag 1:5  Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Eph 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

The word circumspectly  means accurately, so HE  wants us to walk and live according to HIS ways.
A brother in JESUS had taken the time to teach  me that the Bible is the plumb line in our life and that is how to know if the path of our feet are in the right direction or not. The second half of this verse He tells us let all thy ways be established, that means to be firm or stable or steadfast or to be set. This tells me that we should be firm in what we believe, that we should be stable in our life with the word, and HIS ways for our life.

2Thes 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
When we get established JESUS will keep us from evil and  strengthen us.
1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

This verse tears all that feel good teaching up Peter tells us we will suffer a while, but the suffering makes us perfect and strong and established. I will take all the suffering and trouble in this life, the way I see it I probably only have 40 plus years left here in this life and that is nothing compared to eternity!!!

  PROVERBS 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

This is a verse that I find very hard to do!  I struggle with this, always try to figure it out like I am some kind of genius and what I should do is TRUST GOD! I find it hard because I was raised that it was my job to do it on my own and not supposed to ask for help, my dad always told me where there is a will there is a way and cant never could. Then JESUS found me and I learned that my will was the problem and that if I would surrender to HIM that HE could help me and do HIS will not my will.  I look back and see that all I was doing was the same thing our first parents did I was trying to be my own god. So when problems come I try to fix them and the HOLY SPIRIT reminds me of:

EPH 1:12-13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

If anyone else struggles with this just pray for GOD to fill you with HIS SPIRIT and to strengthen your inner man! That is what helps me not to lean on my own understanding and to trust the LORD!!!

 PROVERBS  2:2-3
    2  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding.

These verse stands out to me give us more instruction on how to know JESUS.  We need to listen to the word of GOD as we read and apply them to our hearts so that we are changing our lives to fit the Bible and to be careful not to change the Bible to fit our life. This is how we become transformed into Bible believing Christians by following the words of GOD just like:

1 Samuel 3: 10  And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

We need to receive the WORD with readiness of mind and not murmuring. We should hide the WORD inside us like treasures that could be robbed. In verse 3 we see that we should cry out for knowledge like homeless cry for money and food. We should pray for knowledge like our life depends on it. Our life should depend on it.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

James tells us to ask GOD and HE will give it to us LIBERALLY, the more we read the less excuses we have not to know HIM. The awesome thing is that Solomon tells us where and how to get wisdom right here in these verses.

PROVERBS 1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? This verse stands out to me as a Christian. The book of Proverbs is for believers so we can have the mind of JESUS and live like HIM. This is the problem in our churches today, get saved and then go out and do whatever we choose JESUS says HOW LONG, YE SIMPLE (silly fools) ONES, WILL YE LOVE SIMPLICITY (foolishness)? So if we love simplicity then we do not love HIM! JESUS says and the scorners (talk arrogantly) delight in their scorning (bragging), and fools hate knowledge? If we hate knowledge then that means we would hate GOD! PROVERBS 1:7 says The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. We see this all the time in Christians and try to help and encourage them to study and learn more about JESUS but they never have time or just choose to watch TV or anything besides spend time with JESUS. I do not understand this because we will spend eternity with HIM and we have the ability to know HIM right now and forever more. Personally this verse is what reminds me of how important it is to walk and talk to JESUS daily and to know him more and more. I have learned that if I read a verse in the Bible and it makes me mad or angry that it is the HOLY SPIRIT convicting me of my sin and wrong doing. JESUS continues to shred any justifying we try to come up with on why we can’t learn more about HIM! I just want to encourage all my brothers and sisters in CHRIST to spend time and talk with HIM daily and learn as much as we can so at the judgment seat we can stand before JESUS unashamed because we have studied and know HIM!

Pro 31:26  She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of

kindness.

The Book of Proverbs has said a lot about how we are suppose to speak, to me

this verse kind of sums it up. To open my mouth with wisdom will only

happen if I allow God to guide me.  Psa 111:10  The fear of the LORD is the

beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his

commandments: his praise endureth for ever.  We have to have that

understanding. Also we have to be able to not only speak with wisdom, but also

with kindness. Mal 2:6  The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not

found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many

away from iniquity.  We can’t approach sharing Christ without showing that

kindness. God certainly shared his kindness with me. Psa_117:2  For his merciful

kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise

ye the LORD. God has given us such a great example to follow. Wisdom and

Kindness such a great combination.

Pro 30:8-9  Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor

riches; feed me with food convenient for me:   Lest I be full, and deny thee, and

say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God

in vain.

As I read these verses I thought of what Paul said. Php 4:11-12  Not that I speak in

respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be

content.  I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every

where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to

abound and to suffer need.  These verses are ones that we should apply to our

daily walk. God is enough! He wants to be the supplier of our needs, both worldly

and more importantly our spiritual needs. Php 4:19  But my God shall supply all

your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  All of our needs. No

need to look further, just look to God.

Pro 29:25  The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the

LORD shall be safe.

Fear prevents us from doing so many things in life. It prevents us from reaching

out to one that is lost, from doing a work on the mission field, or doing whatever

God has called you to do. When I think about this, it boggles my mind that we

Would allow fear to control us when we have Christ dwelling within us. 1Jn_4:4

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he

that is in you, than he that is in the world. I have allowed fear to keep me from

praying with a friend when I knew that God was telling me very plainly to pray

with her. My friend was lost at that time and going through a really difficult time

and I was scared that by me asking if I could pray with her it would be hard on

her. (I sure can come up with some silly excuses). The result was later that same

night a preacher went to visit her and won her to the Lord. That could have been

me if I had not let fear control me. Psa 31:14  But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I

said, Thou art my God. This verse is how I want to live the rest of my life, fully

trusting and believing God. NO FEAR.

Pro 28:9  He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer

shall be abomination.

This verse says that when we willfully stop listening to God that our prayer will be

an abomination to Him. Abomination is a scary word to me. It’s not a word I

would ever want God to use when He thinks of me. This word is never used in a

good way. It’s used when God talks about idolatry (Deu7:25), sexual sin (Lev 20:13), sowing discord among the brethren (Pro. 6:16), a proud heart (Pro. 16:5),

and now turning away from listening to Him. I pray that I will always approach

God with this verse in mind.

Pro 27:6  Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are

deceitful.

Pro 27:9  Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.

Pro 27:17  Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his

friend.

These are just three of the characteristics that a true friend should have. In verse

6 it says that faithful are the wounds of a friend. True friends will tell you the

truth all the time, even when it’s not the fun thing to do and it hurts you, but it’s

what’s needed. Verse 9 tells us that the heart rejoices by the counsel of his friend.

It’s great to have someone in your life that can give you perspective. I come from

a large family, but it’s my church family and friends that I turn to for this. Verse 17

that a friend should sharpen our countenance. I have to say that my friendship

with  my accountability partner certainly did that for me. During that first year as

we read through our Bible, it was a time of growth in his Word. That was due in

part to having a friend that was encouraging in the Word and also wasn’t afraid to

say no I don’t think that is what that means. We are truly blessed when we have

the kind of friends that God has described in these verses.

Pro 26:17  He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is

like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

This verse is very easy to understand. God is very plainly telling us to mind our

own business! Even with the best of intentions we can cause more damage to a

situation by our butting in.  Pro 20:3  It is an honour for a man to cease from

strife: but every fool will be meddling.
